Victorian Lilac Water Pitcher: Antique CR Marquette Porcelain Jug

This breathtaking Victorian-era water pitcher instantly transported me when I first saw it — those cascading lilacs in purple and white, that softly scalloped rim, the graceful silhouette. It’s the kind of piece that makes you pause. Produced by CR Marquette Co. in the late 1800s to early 1900s, this hand-decorated porcelain pitcher is full of charm and rich detail, from its raised scrollwork to its delicate gilded edge (still visible in areas). While it shows signs of age and use, it's a striking example of antique utility made beautiful.

Why I Chose This Piece
The lilac motif drew me in immediately — I have such a soft spot for purple florals. And the shape! That wide, undulating spout and ornate handle are straight out of a storybook. Even with its flaws, this pitcher holds such presence and history. I could imagine it in a garden-inspired kitchen, or catching light on a sunny shelf. It felt like the kind of piece someone would fall in love with, just like I did.
